Suriname Standards Bureau (SSB)

The Suriname Standards Bureau (SSB) was established as a Sui Generis organization under the Standards Act (S.B. 2006 No. 30, as amended by S.B. 2012 No. 42) and was officially inaugurated on October 15, 2007. As the National Standards Body (NSB) of Suriname, SSB plays a key role in developing a strong standards infrastructure that supports economic growth, safeguards the environment, and ensures the health and safety of people, plants, and animals.

Our Mission

SSB ensures, stimulates, and promotes quality, sustainability, and socially responsible entrepreneurship in Suriname through standardization, conformity assessment, metrology, and related services.

Our Vision

SSB aims to be an innovative, visionary, customer- and goal-oriented center of excellence, providing high-quality standardization, conformity assessment, and metrology services for the development of a robust national quality infrastructure in Suriname.

Our Role

SSB supports trade, industrial efficiency, and public safety by establishing and promoting standards that enhance the quality of goods and services. It also plays a crucial role in consumer protection and environmental sustainability through the implementation of a National Quality Infrastructure (NQI).

What We Do

Under the Standards Act (S.B. 2004 No. 121), SSB is responsible for the development, maintenance, and promotion of standards and technical regulations in Suriname.

The Bureau functions as:
